Sunday 15th November 7:30pm: Dirt! The Movie and Autumn Organic Fair

We hope that you will be able to join us for a screening of Dirt! The Movie followed by an Autumn Organic Fair, which will provide a great opportunity to buy organic products from local businesses.

‘Dirt! The Movie’, narrated by Jamie Lee Curtis, brings to life the environmental, economic, social and political impact that the soil has.  It shares the stories of experts from around the world and highlights the beauty and power of a mutually beneficial relationship with the soil. The film presents inspiring examples of individuals doing the best they can to remedy the problems brought on by humanity’s mistreatment of the soil. Pierre Rabhi of France has taught farmers in Mali the principles of agroecology to help them reclaim the desert; in California, Alice Waters started the Edible Schoolyard project to help children learn the joys and responsibilities of growing their own food; and young former urbanites in New York State created the Hardy Roots Farm to supply organically grown food to city dwellers who pay for this service.

In the spirit of the movie’s call for positive action, an Autumn Organic Fair will follow straight after the film screening. Local business people will be selling a range of great organic products in the St Mary’s Polygon Centre (just next to the church) so it’s a good idea to bring some cash and a shopping bag!  The whole event will take place on the St Mary’s Church site, St Mary’s Road, Ealing W5 5RH.

Pumpkin Competition Results

Great to have met so many new friends at St Mary’s Lawn Festival on Saturday. Many of you will be keen to know that the weight of our formidable pumpkin was 6.01 Kg (13.249 lbs). Amazingly two people got very close but the closest was Georgia who wins the voucher for organic fruit & veg from Edible Ealing, our local veg box scheme.
