Thanks to all who attended ‘re-Imagining Ealing’s Future’ and the film ‘Powerful’
At the first, we explored the question ‘What additional steps can we take to grow wellbeing in our local community?’. At the second we asked ‘how do we start a renewable energy revolution in Ealing?
The first event yielded five ideas as follows
A Social Network / Hub for Elders.
This would engage the experience and skills of community Elders, channelling this into local activities, creating time, spaces and events for Elders, sharing skills and campaigning on important issues.
A Food Producers’ Network in Ealing and Southall
This would connect growing groups throughout the borough, enable the sharing of produce, creating a mutual support network and spreading awareness of the need to relocalise food in the local community
A ‘Unique Streets’ programme
This would foster community on a street-by-street basis, using NEF’s ‘five aspects of happiness’, namely Connect, Be Active, Take Notice, Keep Learning, and Give. Activities would include street parties, group play, eating together, community gardening and evening walks.
A Children’s Education Centre at Perivale Wood
This would act as a focal point for a deeper appreciation of nature and environment. Help is needed to finish building the new straw bale centre, develop community programmes, resource packs & publicity, capture memories from Elders and more.
This project aims to reduce local waste through re-use and repurposing. The team aims to create an event to explore what ‘wastes’ could be utilised, and how these could be collected, stored and processed.
The second event yielded a number of ideas but chief among these was
