Sunday 24th March, 7.30pm. 12 Years to Save the Planet: Next Steps

We hope you will be able to join us for our next event, which will provide a further opportunity to explore responses to the question: ‘How can we as a community engage in local action and what steps can we take together to create a more sustainable Ealing?’

The recent Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) report on the consequences of a 1.5 degrees Celsius rise in global temperatures sent out a stark warning on the need for a rapid decarbonisation of society. It also highlights the need for local action as part of a global response to the climate emergency, something Ealing Transition wants to encourage in Ealing.

We will begin by showing a short inspirational talk by Greta Thunberg before sharing some updates about what has been happening since our participative ‘Open Space’ event on 9th February. Following this introduction, participants will divide into groups to explore the topics discussed at the previous event, which ranged from ‘Community Solar’ to ‘The Place of Civil Disobedience’. We hope this will provide a useful forum for developing action plans, involving both participants from the earlier event and those who were unable to attend.

The event will be held in St Mary’s Church hall (the Polygon) St Mary’s Road, Ealing, W5 5RH. Doors will open at 7.15pm and we hope to start promptly at 7.30pm. Entry is free but donations to help us cover costs will be welcome.
