Report on Reskilling 2011
Saturday 1st October 2011 saw the first Ealing Transition family fun Re-Skilling Day held at St Mary’s church hall in South Ealing.
The day was deemed a huge success not just because of the great turnout, but also due to the enthusiasm and energy of all who took part.
The day assembled local people able to share skills in bread and pizza making, baking, knitting, sewing, mending and re-designing clothes, bee keeping, energy saving at home, hands-on health, jam making, using washable nappies, exchanging clothes, foraging for herbs and the building a clay oven in the nearby churchyard.
Debbie Penney ran the ‘make do and mend’ session on our re-skilling day. She runs regular supervised sewing groups on Saturdays from 10am-1pm, at which you can enjoy cake, tea & get experienced guidance and advice whilst sewing on your own sewing projects and machine. Sessions take place on Gordon Road. The first session is only £5 (usually £15). Other sessions are also available.
