How should we design our cities for the 21st century?
Join us for an evening of inspiration and discussion.
We will show two short films (run time approximately 45 minutes total) detailing cities around the world which are making great strides with their plans to become 100% sustainable. These include Vancouver, Copenhagen, Seoul and others.
We will then discuss together what has inspired us and which ideas might work in Ealing.
This will be the first in a series which will consider city planning in the context of the transition to a fossil-free, sustainable future. Our hope is to use the discussion to produce a vision for a sustainable Ealing.
This initiative follows the recent publication of the Mayor’s Environmental Strategy, which has far-reaching implications as we work towards being carbon neutral by 2050.
The event will be held at St Mary’s Church, St Mary’s Road, Ealing, W5 5RH. Entry is free but donations to help us cover costs will be welcome.
Following our talk by Maddy Harland, editor of Permaculture Magazine – we are continuing the permaculture theme with a screening of the 2011 documentary ‘Anima Mundi’, the first feature documentary by film maker Peter Charles Downey. This will be followed by a discussion of permaculture principles led by Graham Burnett, permaculture teacher and author.
We are delighted to welcome Maddy Harland, Editor of Permaculture Magazine, to Ealing Transition on Sunday 18th March. Maddy is one of the leading lights of Permaculture in the UK, and her 25 years at the helm of PM have recently been celebrated in her book ‘Fertile Edges’. The event takes place at St Mary’s Church, St Mary’s Road. Ealing W5 5RH. As usual entry is free but we welcome donations to help us cover costs.
